Yes. The Free tier has no restrictions on personal or commercial use. You can use Comet at work, on client projects, or for any purpose without paying. Companies typically upgrade to Team when they need centralized billing, SSO, or shared connections.
Your subscription price automatically decreases each year you renew. Pro starts at $79/yr, drops to $59/yr in Year 2, and $49/yr from Year 3 onward. Team follows a similar schedule. You don't need to do anything — the discount applies automatically at renewal.
You keep Pro features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Free tier. All your data, connections, and queries remain — you just lose access to Pro-only features like AI chat and advanced history search.
Pro and Team plans include monthly AI credits. Each AI interaction costs credits based on the quality tier you choose — Fast (~1 credit), Standard (~2-3), Advanced (~6-10), or Premium (~15-30). Credits reset each billing cycle. Need more? Purchase top-up packs starting at $5 for 500 credits. You can also use your own API key (BYOK) to bypass credits entirely — Anthropic, OpenAI-compatible, or local CLI tools.
The Free tier is fully functional for everyday MongoDB work — unlimited connections, full CRUD, shell, explain plans, and more. Pro adds AI chat, unlimited history, import/export, and the visual pipeline builder. You can upgrade anytime and cancel if it's not for you.
Yes. If you're a Pro subscriber and your company adopts Comet Team, your remaining Pro subscription value is credited toward the Team plan. Your admin can add you as a team member and billing transitions automatically.
